Overview
Unveiling the Core Functionality ¶
The concept of a Core Feature is fundamental in evaluating any product, especially those designed for a specific purpose. It refers to the sequence of essential features that directly contribute to achieving the product's core function. These features are interconnected and non-negotiable for successful user experience.
Imagine the core feature as the roadmap leading users to their desired destination within the product. Each step on this path represents a crucial function that must work flawlessly for users to achieve their goals.
Analyzing Webex Through the Core Feature Lens to illustrate the core feature concept:
- Scheduling a Meeting: Users need a straightforward interface to schedule meetings, including setting date, time, duration, and inviting participants.
- Joining a Meeting: Seamless joining, either through a downloadable application or a web browser, is essential for efficient participation.
These core functionalities form the core feature for Webex.com. Without them, the platform wouldn't fulfill its core purpose of facilitating online meetings effectively.
The ISS(Internal Service Status) portal is designed with a focus on surfacing the functionalities that are most vital to our service users. By defining a core feature for each microservice or service components (Webex Meetings, Messaging, Calling, Contact Center etc), we highlight the key features and provide insights into their health and availability, ensuring that stakeholders have a clear view of the operational status of these essential elements within each service.
